Wales FlagCome and visit North Wales and drink our beer while you’re here. It’s great, and so is North Wales! You will find that our brewery name, along with the names of our standard beers appear in both Welsh and English. The Welsh language is widely spoken in this corner of Wales and for many people it is their first language. If you are a visitor to the area you will see bilingual signs and hear people speaking their native language. Please respect this, it’s quite normal and people are very friendly. Diolch yn fawr. You could even have a go at speaking Welsh yourself! Diolch yn fawr!
Having reached our tenth anniversary milestoe we continue to produce cask & bottled ales of the highest quality with probably the best range of ales in North Wales. We are proud of our Welsh roots with all beers brewed and bottled at our brewery in Llysfaen, Conwy, North Wales. We have innovated with our Infusion ale winning the first ever Beer Academy Welsh Pale Ale award in 2012. At our new premises in Llysfaen we have installed a brewery designed by Brendan Dobbin the brewing engineer behind the Firkin brewpubs.
We have a new brand West Coast Brewing to showcase modern beer styles with California & Riptide so far and more planned in the future.
North Wales Brewery
John Wood has been brewing since 1999 and moved to the hillside of Moelfre overlooking Abergele in 2006. Since then a great deal has happened with developing the brewery building and grounds around it, culminating in 2012 with sinking a bore hole so that we can use our own water in the development of our products. Beers such as Abergele Ale, Welsh Stout, Bodelwyddan Bitter, Moelfre IPA & our specialised Chilli & Dandelion & Burdock beer are sold in bottles at Farmers Markets, Food Festivals and Seasonal Shows.
Alongside our Traditional Real Ales we produce Mead & other Mediaeval recipes – Braggot, Cypher & Melomel. Traditional Soft Drinks, Dandelion & Burdock, Ginger, Cream of Soda, Cherry, are also produced. Our Mobile ‘DRAGONS BAR’ at the Brewery is licensed for you to buy Beer to take home.
